Final Post

Coming into this class, I was terrified of failing. It has always been a challenge for me to be creative and I have never been good with technology. But this class taught me that it all takes practice, even being creative takes practice. The more you challenge your mind, the more creative you will be. Throughout this whole semester, there have been many assignments and many sleepless nights, but I can honestly say that I would do it over again. One of my failures was not trying hard enough to figure out how to make something work, which resulted in a not so good Morphx video, Famous painting project, and Somewhere project. Another failure of mine is doubting myself which held me back from completing an assignment and turning it in late. One of my favourite projects to make which turned out really well was the Poster. I loved that project. Another art piece that turned out really good was the Mesh tool. I have learned SO much in this class and wanted to thank my professor Santiago Echeverry for encouraging and inspiring me to push myself. He is truly passionate about what he teaches and is amazing at what he does! I can honestly say he was one of the best professors I've had!

Final Portfolio

This is my final portfolio! It includes all of my artwork for the semester! The cover page is a photo that was taken of me. This was our final project that wrapped up Beginning Digital Arts class for me! 

Poster

This was one of my favourite projects! We were supposed to create a project that sends a meaningful message and had to have our face in it. I decided to use the quote "Overthinking kills your happiness," because I always have to remind myself not to over think things.

Gradient Mesh

For this Project, we were supposed to find an object in our room, take a picture of it, and re-create it using the mesh tool in illustrator.

Mesh Tutorials

In order to understand how to use the mesh tool in illustrator, I watched a couple that professor Santi provided us. These tutorials were very informative as they taught me how exactly to use the mesh tool and what exactly I need to do to re-create an object.

Tutorial 2: This tutorial helped me the most with my project since it looked like the object I chose. I had to use the same techniques that were showed in this video.

Calligram

For this project we were supposed to create an entire image with just text from a poem. I asked my mom to send me her favorite Arabic poem, and created an image that represents it with the text. The poem is about the love and respect a child has for his or her mom. I chose an image of a mother holding her child to represent the poem.

Business Cards

At first when I heard we had to create logos and make business cards for someone else, I was worried. I thought that mine would turn out so bad because i'm not creative like that. Fortunately, they did not turn out too bad and I actually had so much fun making them. Although we were only asked to make five, I ended up making eight because of how indecisive I am.

We had to come up 25 with sketches of logos that we will be designing for someone else in class. Mine look pretty rough but this is all that I brainstormed. 

 

Outline

For this assignment, we were supposed to choose an image, and outline it using the pen tool in illustrator. I decided to use an image of Donald Duck because he was my favourite cartoon character as a child.

Pen Tool

This is an art piece from when we first started using illustrator. We were supposed to use the pen tool and paint brush in order to explore what we can do with the program. This is was I came up with. 

Animation Video

I created an animation video about my spring break 2016! It was a LONG process but I somehow managed to create a video that works! I decided to do it about my spring break because I got to go on a cruise with my boyfriend! The cruise stopped in Mexico, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, and finally the Bahamas!

Somewhere I've never been

For this project, we learned about texture and brightness/contrast. We were supposed to choose a  place we've never been and insert ourselves into the photo to look like we were there. As you can see, the place i've never been is on the set of the TV show of FRIENDS. This is my favourite show and I would love to one day visit their set. 

Autoscapy Project

For this project we were supposed to create an image that represents something significant to us. I decided to create an art piece that represents traveling because of how much I love to travel. I consider myself to be a "third culture kid"which means I grew up in a place outside of my parents' culture. Although I lived in one country up until I moved to Florida for college, I have traveled to several countries whether it was for vacation with family and friends, or for a sports tournament with my high school. I attended a school in which I watched many of my friends who were from all over the world come and go. I never left. But the friendships I was so lucky to make in that school have actually allowed me to travel the world and opened me up to different cultures. I'll stop rambling now, but this was my reasoning for creating this photo.
